GOODWALK is hiring our founding team.
GOODWALK is for everyone, but it is especially built for people who have not found their home in fitness. It's for people who have quit a gym because the room made them feel behind, watched, or like they were the only one who didn't already belong. We're building the opposite of that room.
GOODWALK is a boutique fitness studio built entirely around walking. Our 45-minute, instructor-led treadmill classes put concert-style lighting, themed playlists, and a real community together, where every person sets their own pace. Members can walk flat or take the incline up, add weights or bring nothing but themselves. There's no leaderboard, no metrics on the wall, and no one keeping score. The only goal is to get our steps in and have a good time doing it, because showing up is the whole win.
We're all about walking here, but the walk is just what gets people in the door. The community is why they keep coming back. We're looking for the people who'll help us build it.
We're opening two studios in August: one at H & 13th Street NE in Washington, DC, and one near the metro in Reston, VA. You'd be helping build the room from the very beginning.
Open positions:
-
Location options: H Street, DC and/or Reston, VA
Compensation: $40/class plus commission based on individual and team performance
Requirements: No experience required, but coaching, teaching, training, music, dance, performance, fitness, or group leadership experience is a plus.
About you:
You are warm, magnetic, reliable, and emotionally intelligent.
You can command a room without making the room feel intimidated.
You love music and understand how the right song at the right moment can change the whole energy of a class.
You notice people. The new person. The quiet person. The person who came back after missing a week. The person who needs a little extra welcome.
You are comfortable being visible and building a following, both inside the studio and online.
You believe fitness can be joyful and accessible without being less legitimate.
You can bring energy at 6 a.m. or 8 p.m.
You understand that consistency, preparation, and professionalism are part of the magic.
About the role:
GOODWALK instructors are the heartbeat of the room. You set the tone, cue the walk, build the playlist, create the energy, and make every person in the room feel like they belong there.
Our instructors coach from the treadmill and lead 45-minute music-driven walking classes using the GOODWALK method, which is a combination of incline walking and changes in pace to the beat of music. Ultimately, members choose their own pace and intensity, which means your job is not to make everyone do the same thing. Your job is to make everyone feel successful inside the same shared experience.
This role has two core parts: teach an excellent class and build a real community around it.

Location options: H Street, DC and/or Reston, VA
Compensation: $20/hour plus commission based on individual and team performance
Requirements: No experience required. Hospitality, retail, sales, boutique fitness, restaurant, customer service, or front desk experience is a plus
About you:
You are naturally warm and notice small details.
You like making people feel comfortable, especially when they are new.
You can stay calm when the front desk gets busy.
You are dependable, organized, and proactive.
You are comfortable with sales when the goal is helping someone find the option that actually fits them.
You care about the room looking and feeling good.
You understand that a clean bathroom, a remembered name, and a smooth check-in are all part of the brand.
You believe hospitality can turn a workout into a place people want to belong.
About the role:
The Hospitality Team helps make GOODWALK feel like GOODWALK.
You are often the first person a member sees when they walk in and the last person they talk to before they leave. That means you help shape the entire experience, from the welcome at the desk to the way the room feels before class to the small moments that make someone want to come back.
This role is part front desk, part sales, part member experience, part community builder, and part keeper of the vibe.
You’ll check members in, support first-timers, help people find the right membership or class option, assist with retail, keep the studio running smoothly, and make sure the space feels warm, clean, organized, and unmistakably GOODWALK.
At GOODWALK, hospitality is part of the product. The workout matters, but the way people feel when they walk in, ask a question, buy their first class pack, celebrate a milestone, or come back after a hard week matters just as much.
